Community Networking First of a Three Part Series (Part 1)
Many people have read and heard about the social networks like ActiveRain.com and others of which I am a member. My link is ActiveRain.com/GaryWhite for a series of blogs that cover a vast array of real estate issues for buyers, sellers and real estate professionals.
One of the other areas of networking is Community Networks.
The first area I will cover is how Realtors can network and have fun doing it.
I just attended a local Chamber of Commerce golf outing. I was invited by a local mortgage lender Brian Ferrick. I have to say it was a great time. It benefited the local chamber and allowed members and non-members to meet and greet each other in a festive non-formal setting. Brian is another Active Rain member as well from the Grand Rapids Michigan area.
The photo to the right is Brian, his ball landed nest too the 200 yard marker after his tee shot. I think you get a club length distance to move the ball Brian! :-)
Chambers of Commerce memberships is a great way to advance your services to the community. The cost is low and the image value is a big winner.
For example smaller communities where you do business have fees as low as $50.00 annually versus larger communities can run in the hundreds of dollars.
The promotional value of event sponsorship can be a real boost to your business at a relatively low cost. To reduce costs further only sponsor portions of events. In this instance a sign at the Tee Box was a natural. Selecting your location if you sponsor early enough can also benefit you for the same price.
How would you like to have your name next to the clubhouse for all to see? That's what Brian did. Make sure you have your phone number or website on the sign...preferably both and generate more traffic. One more hint. Buy a little Business card holder and use double stick tape and affix it to your promotional sign so any of the attendees of the event can grab one of your business cards!
Enjoy the event, have some fun meeting new people and let your promotional sign pass out your business cards! Since promotional signage of this type are only printed on one side here is one more option to get more bang for your buck. Add a brochure holder to the back of the sign with more double stick tape. Promote yourself with a personal brochure about your services and company. It only takes a couple of new clients to make you a very happy advertiser.
This works for any business not just Realtors. It's easy and you can enjoy yourself at the same time!
Remember to stop back for the next two posts on Community Networking to increase your business and have fun at the same time.

Very good advice. Community profile does help, both the person involved, and the greater community. Clearly, a win/win.
